Final preparations are being completed on the new Recreation Center addition for the Grand Opening on Saturday, January 31. Ceremonies start at 10 a.m. followed by facility tours and demonstrations in new recreation areas. Regular use of the facility begins on Monday, February 2.

Below are photos taken on January 8, 2009.

The exterior of the new Recreation Center. Most of the landscaping is done.

The new nine-lane indoor pool has a scoreboard for competitions.

The outdoor splash pool will open for the summer pool season.

The entrance area and front desk.

The new gym and indoor track.

A contractor installs the sound system in the new gym.

This is an area for spinning classes above the weight and cardio room with an enclosed room for aerobics and dance classes.

The suspended indoor track encircles the new gym, the spinning area, and the weight and cardio room.

The outdoor teen area has a pavilion, sand volleyball court, and a basketball court.

The center is a nice place to come to , love the new weight room but what about the teenagers? Other than going outside to play volley or basketball?

Areas in the original Recreation Center are currently being renovated and will be used for teen and senior activities. The Teen Center is projected to open in April or May.

In town for business. La Quinta told me to visit your facility for my workout. Stopped in, paid the $5.00, then was asked if it was my first visit. They presented me with my $5.00 and stated, “first time-no charge, next time $5.00″. Impressive center, will GLADLY pay $5 in the future when back in town, more impressed with the Texas Hospitality for my first visit being gratis!

Chis — of course there is no charge, the local tax payers are taking care of all of the fees! Funny that such a Red county supports big government providing services instead of private enterprise.
